CONVENT GUILT to release debut album “Guns for Hire” in October

CRUZ DEL SUR MUSIC announces the release of CONVENT GUILT debut “Guns for Hire” on October 7th 2014 on vinyl format.

Convent Guilt is a heavy metal band from Sydney, Australia, formed in 2010 that has released their initial 4 track demo in mid-2012. Featuring veteran members of the Australian metal scene, the band draws its influences from glorious and gritty ‘70s hard rock, the darker side of the NWOBHM and early ‘80s heavy metal from both sides of the Atlantic.

CONVENT GUILT‘s vocalist and bassist Ian remarked that “‘Guns for hire‘ was recorded at A Sharp Studios in Sydney and features 8 tracks of rough yet melodic hard rock/heavy metal. It is more polished than the Convent Guilt demo though we think it keeps the same charm. It sounds like four hard rock renegades riding headlong to oblivion. Get on board!”

Keep checking for updates and song previews, as “Guns for Hire” will definitely turn some heads in 2014!!

STEEL PROPHET releases “666 is Everywhere (The Heavy Metal Blues)” Videoclip

STEEL PROPHET has released the first video clip taken from their forthcoming album “Omniscient” (out on Cruz Del Sur Music on July 4th in Europe and July 11th in the United States). Ten years after their last studio release, the originators of the Progressive Power Metal movement return with the their classic sound led by Steve Kachinsky Blakmoor (guitarist and founding member) and by veteran metal singer Rick Mythiasin.  The recording  line up is completed by Vince Dennis (b), Chris Schleyer (g), Jimmy Schultz (d); after the recording original drummer John Tarascio, and guitarist John Paget returned to the band together.

“666 is everywhere (the Heavy Metal Blues)” is the 6th(!) song of the album.  Although Steel Prophet is not well known for always being humorous, the whimsy of the lyrics is reflected in the video clip shot by Agent Steel/Redemption guitarist Bernie Versailles. About the song Kachinsky says “Steel Prophet knows metal fans have a fascination with the numbers “666”. And when you’re in a metal band trying to make a living, sometimes it seems like “666 is Everywhere”!”.

Omniscient” is composed of 12 songs based on an original story written by Kachinsky.  The idea of telling a story throughout a whole album is similar to STEEL PROPHET’s 1999 classic “Dark Hallucinations” which featured the “Fahrenheit 451” story by Ray Bradbury. The famous German Artist Timo Würz was hired to create the amazing cover artwork, and 12 original booklet illustrations to go with the lyrics and story itself. The album also contains a thirteenth song, a cover of QUEEN’sBohemian Rhapsody”, which was successfully presented by the band at the 2013th edition of the Keep It True festival in Germany; a video clip of the event will see the light shortly before the release of  “Omniscient”.

Omniscient” will be release in limited edition 32-page digibook, regular compact disc, limited gate-fold double LP and digital download.

VESTAL CLARET releases new videoclip

America’s heavy rock doomsters VESTAL CLARET release today their first videoclip off “The Cult of Vestal Claret” their last release out on Cruz Del Sur Music early May 2014.

The song chosen is “The Stranger”, one of the most catchy yet disturbing tunes of the album; for the visual side we were inspired by the Masters of Horror’s episode “The Fair-Haired Child” which partially depict most of the  upsetting lyrics of the track.

The release of “The Cult of The Vestal Claret” introduced the band to a wider audience thanks to a mature yet in-your-face song-writing. Some of the songs have been already released by Vestal Claret on limited edition split albums, but have been completely re-recorded for the occasion. Featuring the charming vocals of Phil Swanson, Vestal Claret’s sound has been enthusiastically described as  “the jangling melancholy of Trouble, the epic stomp of Candlemass, the creative freedom of Sabbath”, but also raised some controversy in the media  when some songs’ lyrics were described as “nauseating”.

You will not get a better chance to judge by yourself by checking the video clip above or listen to the entire album streaming on bandcamp!
